Hocare uses only essential cookies required for the platform to function. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies. This page explains exactly what cookies we set and why.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in, and to function correctly between pages and sessions.
Cookies can be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (stored for a set period). They can be set by the website you visit ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services ("third-party cookies").
2. Cookies we use
Hocare uses two categories of cookies:
| Cookie name / type | Category | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-access-tokensupabase auth session |
Keeps you authenticated while using Hocare. Without this cookie you would be logged out on every page. | Session / 1 hour | |
sb-refresh-tokensupabase auth refresh |
Allows your session to be refreshed without requiring you to log in again. Used alongside the access token. | 60 days | |
hocare_themelocalStorage |
Remembers your chosen display theme (light, dark, midnight, warm, high contrast) so it persists between sessions. | Persistent (localStorage) | |
holuvantage_org_idlocalStorage |
Remembers your organisation on this device so you don't have to re-enter it on each visit. | Persistent (localStorage) | |
holuvantage_org_namelocalStorage |
Remembers your organisation name for display purposes (e.g. "Hocare for Safecare Services"). | Persistent (localStorage) |
Note on localStorage: The functional items listed above use browser localStorage, not cookies in the traditional sense. They behave similarly — persisting data in your browser — but cannot be transmitted to a server and are not shared across domains. They serve only to improve your experience and are cleared when you sign out.
3. Cookies we do not use
Hocare does not use:
- Advertising or targeting cookies — we do not display advertisements and do not share data with advertising networks
- Analytics cookies — we do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party analytics service
- Social media cookies — we do not have social media login buttons or share buttons that set cookies
- Cross-site tracking — we do not track your activity on other websites
- Fingerprinting — we do not use device fingerprinting or any non-cookie tracking technology
4. Third-party cookies
Hocare loads fonts from Google Fonts over a network request. Google may log your IP address in connection with this request, though no cookie is set by Google Fonts. To avoid this, fonts are requested directly from Google's servers. If you wish to prevent this entirely, you can use browser extensions that block font loading from external sources.
No other third-party cookies are set when using Hocare.
5. Managing cookies
The essential authentication cookies are required for Hocare to function. If you disable or delete them, you will not be able to stay logged in.
You can manage or delete functional localStorage items by signing out of Hocare, which clears all locally stored preferences. You can also clear localStorage directly in your browser's developer tools under Application → Local Storage.
Most browsers allow you to view and delete cookies via Settings → Privacy → Cookies. Popular browser guides:
6. Changes to this policy
If we introduce any new cookies or change our use of existing cookies, we will update this policy and notify subscribing organisations via email. The current version of this policy is always available at hocare.holuvantage.com/cookies.
